Bulletin #122 March 12, 2010 ANNOUNCEMENTS SCHOOL CLOSURES: Please refer to the District Website for any school closures or to make sure your school is open. (www.pcoe.k12.ca.us) ALL BULLETIN NOTICE REQUESTS NEED TO BE INTO THE REQUEST BOX IN THE OFFICE BY 4 pm DAY BEFORE TO BE INCLUDED IN NEXT DAY’S BULLETIN. We will be reading after the flag salute each day. ALL MR.GIMBEL CLASSES GO TO ROOM 23 TODAY. BRING SOME HOMEWORK TO DO Any student that is sent to the library must bring a pass, otherwise they will be sent back to class. SAT PREP CLASSES: Upward bound is offering free SAT prep classes for Juniors. The math prep class will be held on Saturday, April 17 and the English prep class on Saturday April 24. Both classes are from 10 AM – 3 PM at FRC. A test prep book and lunch will be provided. To sign up for the classes, turn in a completed upward bound application to the school office before April 1. For more info call 283-0202 ext. 266 PIE THE PRINCIPAL: Haven’t you ever wanted the chance to pie Mr. Ray or Dr. Segura in the face? Well, now is your chance. Support QHS softball by buying a ticket for the opportunity to pie the principal. Tickets are sold Jr. High nutrition break, Senior High nutrition break and Sr. High lunch. Book Club Members: Please pick up permission slips from Miss Frediani to read the quarter #3 selections: Henry's Sisters by Cathy Lamb. We will meet at lunch on March 30. Pennies for Jedidiah! Please bring your pennies to the library and help us all fill up the jar for Jed! SENIORS! SUMMER JOBS: This summer the Student Conservation Association is looking for high school students age 15-19 to help maintain trails and protect wilderness ecosystems in national forests near your home…and get paid. Interested? Email crews@thesca.org with your name, city and forest for more information. Accepting applications until March 15 SPRING PICTURE FUNDRAISER MARCH 22: Please plan ahead for this. You will get to choose from several different backdrops and they are really neat pictures. The school will get a percentage from each picture ordered. Need three parent volunteers: 1 for the morning and two for the afternoon. Send no money for pictures. You will be receiving a proof and order information before purchase. PLUMAS DISTRICT HOSPITAL HEALTH-RELATED CAREER SCHOLARSHIP: If you are planning a career in a health-related field, please see Mr. Barnes or Mrs. Shipp for an application. It needs to be postmarked no later than April 15, 2010. They will be offering two scholarships of $2,000 each. FARM BUREAU SCHOLARSHIP: You must meet one of the following qualifications: 1) Be an immediate family member of a Plumas-Sierra County Farm Bureau member in good standing. 2) Be a member of a family living in Plumas or Sierra County, which derives its living from farming or other agriculturally-related occupations. 3) Reside in Plumas or Sierra County and majoring in an agricultural field. If you meet any of this, come to the office for an application.
Donations needed: Please bring boxes of crayons to ship to students in Honduras. It will be much appreciated. A box will be in the office for your donations. Thanks DONATIONS NEEDED FOR HAITI: Box in office. You can give cash or make checks payable to the American Red Cross Pennies for Haiti !! Room 26, (Mrs. Stirling's 7th, 8th, and 9th graders) are collecting pennies to support the QHS S-Club....please send in your pennies. Look under your car seats, under the sofa and under the fridge. CALLING ALL ARTISTS!!!!!!!! The Plumas Arts Gallery is hosting its Student Art Show in the month of April. Submit your artwork to Ms DeBoever, room 22, after school for her to mat. This year’s exhibit will be noncompetitive and all submissions are welcome. DON’T BE SHY!!!!!!!! Express yourself!!! All students are encouraged to participate. Deadline for entries is Friday, March 12, 2010. For more information pick up a flyer in the front office!!!!! DATE CHANGE; TALENT SHOW HAS BEEN CHANGED TO MARCH 28TH. LIBRARY NEW HOURS: Monday: 8:30 -10:30, Tuesday - Friday: 8 - 3:30 Library News: We have more new books, come to the library and check them out!! SPORTS JUNIOR HIGH: FRC is hosting a volleyball clinic March 20 noon to 3 PM at the FRC Gym. 4th through 8th graders only. $20 per student – If interested arrive at FRC gym at 11:45 AM on Saturday, March 20 SENIOR HIGH: VARSITY BASEBALL: Fall JV Football: All current 8th and 9th graders interested in playing football in the fall, there is a signup sheet in the office.
