Showing Appreciation for your Mother on Mother’s Day

By Kenzie Davis

All mothers need to be appreciated. Do you know how much they worry when you’re out late or when you get hurt? They are constantly thinking about you and wondering if you are safe. Most mothers are the same; they will do anything for you, if it is within reason. Mother’s Day is the perfect time to show your mom you appreciate her.
QHS has a number of mothers in its staff. 100 percent of the ones asked said that they would rather have their Mother’s Day gift hand made over store bought. When Mrs. Hutchins was asked which one she preferred she said, “Made by my child, especially if a lot of time and thought has gone in to it.”  When asked, “What are you looking forward to on Mothers Day?” Mrs. Bequette replied, “My kids excitement - they love making my day special.” Mrs. Hubbell responded, “Phone calls and cards from my adult children.”  All of the QHS moms surveyed have great mothers day memories. Mrs. Rotta said, “ My first Mother’s Day with five month old Stacey [was most memorable].”
Some awesome, fun, and easy things that you can do with or for your mom is, making her a simple card saying how much you love her and how you are thankful for everything she has done for you, or give her a day to relax. You can do the chores or cook the meals for the day; she’ll surely appreciate it. For an activity, take a walk, watch a movie with her, or bake cookies with each other. Even the smallest thing will show her how much you appreciate her if there is a lot of love put in to it. All mothers appreciate something made from their children’s hearts or time spent with them.
Think about it. This is your mother’s big day. She deserves to relax and take a break from her normally hectic life. Ask her what she would like to do and plan an exciting event that you will all enjoy. Your mother has earned it.  So show your respect and gratitude toward your loving mother- she will be deeply grateful.
